Represent NYC: Small Business Crisis

Small businesses are an endangered entity in New York City. Between the exorbitant rents, commercial taxes, and landlords renting to chain stores, more and more mom-and-pop shops are closing their doors.

On this episode of “Represent NYC,” Council Member Helen Rosenthal talks with Chris Doeblin, owner of Book Culture, and Doug Kleiman, commercial real estate broker with Ripco Real Estate, about the challenges small business owners face and what city government can do to ease the burden.

This episode originally aired in February 2018.
