Represent NYC: Making the DREAM Act a Reality

Given the astronomical cost of higher education today, many students wouldn’t be able to pursue a degree without the financial aid that universities provide. For undocumented students, college is only a pipe dream as their immigration status makes them ineligible for any kind of assistance.

On this episode of “Represent NYC,” New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli sits down with Assembly Member Carmen De La Rosa to discuss her fight to pass the New York State DREAM Act and how it would give undocumented students access to the financial assistance needed to pursue higher education.

Later, former Brooklyn Borough President and current NYC & Company Vice President Marty Markowitz joins the show to discuss trends in New York City tourism and the city’s plan for attracting new visitors to the five boroughs.

This episode originally aired in September 2018.
