Media Librarian (Full Time, 59th St.)

Manhattan Neighborhood Network (MNN) seeks a Media Librarian to work in a collaborative service oriented environment. Must have technical knowledge, and a strong commitment to the user experience. Position reports to the Manager of Broadcast Operations.

Overall Responsibilities

  • Ensure all submitted files meet MNN’s standards

  • Track all media via MNN’s database and playback system

  • Respond to playback, scheduling and troubleshooting questions via email or phone

  • Notify producer about issues with files submitted

  • Assist in troubleshooting issues related to the delivery of media files

  • Transcode all delivered media to playout file

  • Quality control all playout files

  • Stay up-to-date on MNN Policies and Procedures and Workflows

Required Education and Experience

  • Degree in Communications or technical school or equivalent required

  • A minimum of 2-5 years experience or related business experience is required

  • Knowledge of automation systems, ingest system, FTP servers and Drupal Database systems preferred

  • Familiar with ingest and transcoding procedures preferably Pebble Beach and Harmonic’s ProMedia Carbon operation

  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Be extremely organized, demonstrate initiative and an ability to complete multiple assignments in a timely manner

  • Individual must work well in a dynamic environment and be able to recommend and implement process improvements, work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, holidays and weekends
