THE GOOD LIE (2014), directed by Philippe Falardeau, 110 min. A group of young Sudanese refugees arrive in the US and get help from Reese Witherspoon as an employment agency counselor. While personalizing the difficulties these immigrants face in assimilating to American culture, the movie has what The New York Times called a "core of decency, humanity and good will that feels authentic.”

MNN’s Film Series presents The Cinema of Immigration. This 10-week series explores the immigrant experience in the U.S. through films that reflect its ethnic and cultural diversity. Mark Ethan Toporek introduces each screening and leads discussion afterward.
